Presenter Bio
Dr. Simmons received her BA in Psychology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) and her Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Temple University.
Dr. Simmons is a native of Charles County Md where she teaches Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology and Project Lead The Way – Human Body Systems at Westlake High School. She started her career in CCPS in 2015. She has worked as an AVID Tutor, Daily and Long-Term Substitute Teacher, Home & Hospital Instructor, and Administrative Instructional Assistant before going into the classroom full time.
Dr. Simmons is active in the community at large as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Nu Zeta Omega Chapter in Waldorf, Md. She attends Christian Unity Baptist Church where she serves as the Single’s Ministry Leader. Dr. Simmons is a devoted mother of 2 daughters and 1 son who loves spending time with her family, dining, traveling, and shopping.
Abstract
I plan to present a brief summary of the workshops I attended at the 28th Biennial Conference on Chemical Education held at the University of Kentucky, July 28-August 1, 2024. The conference was organized around four themes within the K-12, two-year college, and university communities: Classroom Practice and Learning Environments, Curriculum and Cognition, Assessment and Research Methods, and Professional Development.
