Greetings and Happy New Year! I am excited for 2019 in the Chemical Society of Washington, and I thank you all for the opportunity to serve as your president for this year. I hope that 2019 will bring some exciting times for CSW, and I am grateful to be a part of it.
CSW is a very large local section, and we have a robust community. There is so much opportunity at the local level here. You may not fully realize it, but CSW is absolutely everywhere in the DMV. We are home to literally thousands of members, and have huge communities in industry, government, academia, and more.
I intend to use my year as president to try and strengthen that community. CSW would not exist without our membership, so our membership is going to be our focus.
My ask of those of you active members reading this is for you to help me and the CSW Board do just that! We are looking for passionate members of the chemistry community who want to lead in their own way. We want to support your own efforts, in your workplace, your school, your
nonprofit, and more. If you have thoughts, or you want to be involved, please contact me! I’m here to help you.
I feel very lucky to have become a part of the CSW community. I intend to spend my year creating as many opportunities as I can so more people can be a part of this community. I hope you will join me in this effort!
