Apply for Student Awards in Green Chemistry by October 8

Scholars studying green and sustainable chemistry are invited to apply to the ACS Green Chemistry Institute’s 2022 Student Awards, honoring excellence in research and supporting conference travel.

Applications for three of these awards are due October 8, 2021, while the fourth is due December 31, 2021.

Eligibility differs for each award, but you’ll find options for high school, undergraduate and graduate students, post-doctoral scholars and young professionals from the U.S. and abroad.

ACS Student Travel Award Highlights:

Heh-Won Chang Green Chemistry Fellowship ($5,000 award)

The Heh-Won Chang, PhD Fellowship in Green Chemistry provides financial support to full-time graduate students conducting research in green chemistry. Students must present their research at the G&CE Conference. Funds may be used for any purpose, including conference travel, professional development and living expenses, while the recipient is in graduate school. All full-time graduate students across the globe who are currently conducting research in green chemistry and have at least one full year of study remaining in their graduate program are eligible. The application deadline is 5 p.m. EDT (GMT-4) on Friday, December 31, 2021.

Joseph Breen Memorial Award (up to $2,000)

Reimburses travel expenses up to $2,000 for attendance in a green chemistry technical meeting, conference or training program. Undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral scholars and young professionals, both international and domestic, are eligible. The deadline for the Joseph Breen Memorial Fellowship is 5 p.m. EDT (GMT-4) on Friday, October 8, 2021.

Kenneth Hancock Memorial Award ($1,000 award plus $1,000 travel stipend)

Award for outstanding contributions to green chemistry research & education. The award is announced at GC&E and awardees should present at the conference. Travel and registration to GC&E are reimbursable up to $1,000. The award is open to undergraduate and graduate students, regardless of citizenship or country of study. The deadline for submitting applications to the Kenneth G. Hancock Memorial Award is 5 p.m. EDT (GMT-4), Friday, October 8, 2021.

Ciba Travel Award in Green Chemistry (up to $2,000)

Reimburses travel expenses up to $2,000 for U.S. high school, undergraduate and graduate students to attend an American Chemical Society (ACS) technical meeting, conference or training program. The deadline for the 2022 Ciba Travel Awards in Green Chemistry is 5 p.m. EDT (GMT-4) on Friday, October 8, 2021.
