On Saturday May 10th our Committee on Minority Affairs hosted a second yoga event. It was a beautiful testament to the power of stillness, intentionality, and community. Among its greatest successes was the space it created for attendees to pause, breathe, and reconnect—with themselves and each other.
More than just a physical practice, the session emphasized the importance of prioritizing mental health. In a world that often celebrates constant movement, this event reminded us that rest is revolutionary, and that showing up for ourselves—especially in moments of overwhelm—is a powerful act of self-love.
The atmosphere was welcoming, supportive, and rooted in care, even though the group was small. They all left with a collective reminder: prioritizing our well-being isn’t selfish—it’s necessary. And sometimes, simply showing up is the most radical thing we can do. Hope to continue the conversation of mental health and have Jasmine Washington from ASAP Wellness Co. come back again!
