CSW Volunteer Spotlight: Kamryn Walker

Professional Experience: Graduate Research Assistant at Howard University, Smith Lab

Education: PhD Student at Howard University

Volunteer Activities: One of my favorite volunteer activities was helping CSW host the local section booth at the National ACS meeting, held in Washington, D.C., this August. It was a great opportunity to connect and have fun with my peers in the region. I’ve also assisted CSW with Project SEED by speaking on a panel to high school students. I was able to offer insight as someone further along in their chemistry academic timeline, and I even got the chance to further support one of the students with their scholarship endeavors.

Why did you become a member of CSW?

CSW is extremely involved in the local community! As a graduate student, I sought the opportunity to encourage younger students, particularly women of color, to pursue chemistry as a major and explore the diverse applications associated with the field.
